Platelets are a natural part of the circulating blood in our bodies. They are the first responders to areas of injury in our bodies. PRP is obtained by harvesting these platelet components from a patient’s own blood. After obtaining a blood sample from the patient, the blood is inserted into a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets. This process removes much of the red and white blood cells leaving behind the beneficial PRP. This preparation is then injected into the area of injury or pain to initiate the regenerative cascade.
